Krav Maga

Recently Craig and I watched a show called Fight Quest. The two stars of the show, Jimmy and Doug, travel around the world learning different fighting styles.

In this episode, they went to Israel and were taught a very aggressive style of fighting called Krav Maga. During an exercise, one of the show hosts who had been trained in martial arts had to learn to fight using an unloaded machine gun as his weapon instead of his fists and body. His trainers showed him that when fighting with a weapon like a gun, the steel could do way more damage than mere blows with flesh and bone.

In the same way, that he had to learn the new technique and to defend himself from some of the toughest opponents he had ever encountered, we as followers of Christ are also to use the weapons that God has given us against our spiritual enemy.

Ephesians 6 talks about trusting in the Lord and using his weapons to do battle instead of our own… “10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” It goes on to say, “13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”

In our own strength, we can only go so far. However, when we tap in to God’s unlimited source of power, we can do so much more damage to the enemies camp.

What can you do today to take a stand in your life? What weapon will you fight with? Why not let God fight for you instead of going it alone?

One thing for sure, whatever your fight is, it is one you will win with God on your side!
